Drug Addiction Rehab: Do You Need One?
Drug addiction rehab: do you need one?
You can answer your own question if drug use is causing more and more problems in your life.
A drug addiction rehab may be indicated for people who have become chemically dependent; that is that they want to continue to use drugs in increasing quantities, for as long as possible.
Using what really amounts to insane rationalizations, they will make up fantasies, stories. They did all this to convince themselves that it was ok to continue with their drug abuse. The growing damage caused to themselves and others is harmful.
Eventually the stories and fantasies that drug abusers have surrounded themselves with have begun to lose appeal. You finally realize what is happening. The drugs get to the point that they no longer work, or the user becomes aware that he or she has needs more and more every day.
Users are noticing that they are sicker and sicker when they are not using drugs and that they are having to use more often. Indications of classic drug addiction symptoms of tolerance and withdrawal, there are.
It would be impossible to continue believing that no one else is being hurt by their behavior, but they still crave drugs. The part we just saw is the really scary part They know they're destroying themselves and everyone around them yet the pull from inside, the gut wrenching stomach level twisting, is to go use the drug, at any cost.
The characteristics of addiction called compulsion and obsession, there are. If it were, they would stopped and nobody would be addicted to drugs and still taking them, the intellectual decision to stop using by itself is not enough. You have to remember that while you are placing your addiction into remission by refraining from using, you are not cured, it in fact is only a solution. But to do that everyone needs help.
To get an assessment by a competent professional is the best suggestion I can offer in getting started to seek drug addiction treatment. Not all are appropriate or effective for all people, are there are different levels and types of drug treatment available.
If an addiction professional can give you an evaluation beforehand, you will be able to find a better drug addiction treatment program for you own personal problem.
